It is hard to find French cuisine at affordable prices in Singapore these days and Saveur at Purvis Street is one of the very few. However, many have complained about the small portions too. Curious, my girlfriends and I popped by Saveur some time ago for dinner!
The early-birds!
Since we were waiting for S to rush down from work, we decided to order some starters to curb that hunger. hehe.
Saveur's Pasta
This came in a reallllly small portion so this picture is a really "zoomed-in" photo of the food. haha. We shared it among the 4 of us and being starters, the small portion was not a big issue for us. Taste-wise, it was quite yummy! I can totally see myself eating this as my main dish itself actually!
Foie Gras (with creamy lentils and pickled pearl onion)
I love my foie gras so this is another great choice as our appetizers =)
Food porn interruption: Another group pic after S came. hahah.
Everyone except me ordered the Duck Confit.
Everyone agreed that the duck leg confit was quite salty (all 4 portions!) so i guess it's the marinating sauce's problem. To be honest, i think it tasted mediocre. I definitely have had better ones.
For me, i picked the Chicken Thigh stuffed with foie-gras-infused chicken farce as my main course since i wanted to add some variety to our dinner table. It came with creamy basmati rice at the bottom =)
The only problem i had with my dinner?
WHY SO SMALLLLLLLLL T.T
Below is the comparison of the duck confit with my chicken. We already thought the duck confit is small in portion (but still acceptable for girls) so imagine our shock when the plate was placed in front of me. LOL.
And yes, i finished it in 5 bites. HAHAHAHA. My nice friends actually gave me some of their duck confit just so that i won't feel too hungry after dinner -__-"
We actually went for desserts afterwhich because I was still famished. Bah. I really appreciate the restaurant for keeping their prices low for such exquisite cuisine like French but i guess it is not suitable for big eaters like yours truly. haha. If not, just be prepared to order a few more dishes and pay a little more to enjoy a more hearty dinner? Oh, and do go early to avoid the crazy crowd!! =)
Until next time~
