Here comes the Yventually girl~

Hello everyone!! Have you seen our new FB page profile picture? Yup, we now have a mascot, or i prefer to call "Yventually girl" for the shop =)

The idea of having a Yventually girl to represent the shop came when i realized i have been changing Yventually's FB profile picture frequently to suit the different launches each week (Such a hassle!) I wanted something more consistent and using just the shop's logo was not a good idea as Yventually is like a REALLY long word to fit into that small square space on FB. Worst of all, it became barely noticeable when it appeared as a thumbnail! =/

I was briefly complaining the problem to my brother one day and he mentioned he has this really talented friend studying at La Salle at the moment who can really draw! So I decided to engage him to come up with the Yventually girl drawing! Giving him absolute freedom with the concept, I only told him i want a "girl (like duhhhh. haha) who looks fun-loving, happy and carries a bag (double duh. haha)"

He was rushing between his school assignments to get the drafts done but I was pleasantly surprised to see the first drafts:

Yes, he did the drawings by hand! It's really just his style to do so but I was quite awed by the effort put in because I only wanted one Yventually girl drawing initially and i was given 3 different styles and concepts. The only thing i couldn't stand was the short hair because i secretly wanted the girl to look a little like me! HAHAHA. Ops.

After several amendments and color adjustments, i finally received the final copies of the drawings a few days back =) Couldn't be happier and yes, hand-colored too!!! This also means for every color changes/complaints i made, he actually had to RE-DRAW the girl and color it all over again. Imagine the work involved?!

Used one of drawings for my new blog header and it turned out aweeeeesome =) *See above for evidence* hahaha.

And here's how Yventually's FB profile picture will now look like:

Do you guys like it? I made her hair darker to suit the Asian look. hehehe.

Maybe i should make a Yventually girl tag for each self-manufactured bag from now on huh?? ;)

And now for the most important part of this blog entry, introducing the young but extremely talented artist - Terence Lim aka lunastry
For any related artwork requests, you can contact him directly at Forsaken_94@hotmail.com
He might be busy with school assignments during school terms but i'm sure small projects like this would be possible ;) Give this young chap a chance to showcase his talent!

Until next time~
