First morning in Hong Kong means it's time for breakfast, HK-style! =) The best place to go would be 翠华餐厅 Tsui Wah Restaurant because they serve all sorts of local cuisines!! Besides, they are a franchise chain so they are basically located everywhere (believe me, they are more common than 7-11 in my opinion. lol)
HK Milk Tea.
What's not to love?!
脆哗奶油猪 (Crispy pork bun with condensed milk)
SOOOOOO SWEEEEEEEET. But this was YL's fave! haha.
冰镇菠萝包(Pineapple bun with iced butter)
This is a must-have in Hong Kong because you keep hearing people talk about this bun on HK serials! hehe. It's a sweet pastry with sugary top crust, perfect for the sweet tooth out there.
We copied the uncle sitting next to us: Put the iced butter in between the bun...
And pressssss it downnnnnnnnnnnn so the butter spreads out by itself! Amazing eh.
Taking the HK metro to our next destination
Oh oh, don't forget to purchase your Octopus card! Once again, special thanks to Stephanie for the recommendation!!!
Yup, it's off to Ngong Ping Cable Car station for our cable car ride to Nyong Ping Cultural Village!
The Q was ridiculously long on a weekday but once you express interest in getting their cable car package (cable car ride+2 of their attractions entrance fees) to one of their staff holding the brochures, you get to jump Q immediately!!
Giant armswag. hahaha.
Had to share a cabin with strangers (Read: awkward) so here's their back-view. HAHAHA.
SEE THROUGH GLASS PANEL!! So exciting. hehe.
The moment we reached Lantau Island, we hopped onto bus 21 at the bus-stop to head over to Tai-O Fishing Village.
This place is a rather peaceful village, characterised by these stilt houses. It's not as interesting as described on most travel websites but something different? However, if you are not a fan of wet markets/fish markets, avoid this place. haha.
Our cable car package entitled us to a free boat ride!
Sam kept telling me i had to try the Tau Huey (beancurd) over at Lantau Island so we just randomly entered a shop after our boat ride to try their 豆腐花 =)
I added brown sugar bits that has this slight tinge of ginger taste to it! Nothing special really, though it's a really good way to cool down the body especially on such a hot day then.
Took the same bus back to Ngong Ping Piazza and guess what we saw?
FREE ROAMING BUFFALOS?!?!?!
This pic totally reminded me RUNNING MAN!!! =P I wanted to look for the white-hair Mr Chung actually. ahahha.
Then came the never-ending stairs to the Giant Buddha.
*PANTS*
A final pic with the banner before we left for Tung Chung via cable car once again.
What we had for lunch?
公仔面 aka Nissin noodles.
I had the one with pork chop while the 2 girls nom-ed on their egg and luncheon meat! Very Hong Kong indeed. hehe.
Outlet shopping at Citygate Outlet Mall, Tung Chung!
It was really late by the time we went back to Causeway Bay area for dinner so we whipped out Mr iPad, open the OpenRice HK app and picked a dinner outlet closest to us - 香港仔南记粉面 (Nam Kee Noodle Chain)
Full house though it was past 8pm!
Nam Kee Noodle House specialises in 小窝米线 so simply pick your soup base (clear or spicy&sour) and main ingredients at the cashier counter, make payment and collect your thick vermicelli noodle soup at the collection counter!
A copy of the menu can be found here: http://www.namkeenoodle.com.hk/menu.htm
Clear soup for both YL and CL while i tried their spicy&sour soup broth for a stronger flavor to my noodle soup! Being yet another franchise chain store, the food is not too bad! Definitely great on days you are simply too lazy to look for a place to settle your meals ;)
Ending our day with...
HUI LAU SHAN MANGO DRINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chilled mango puree with sago for me!! PERFECT way to end our night! hehehe
Until next time!!
