Hong Kong - Day Three

Day three is DIM-SUM DAY!!!! Not any dim sum restaurant, but the cheapest Michelin star restaurant in Hong Kong ;)

Yes, it's the famous Tim Ho Wan 添好运 at Mong Kok.

With so many reviews online reminding future customers to reach before opening hours to prevent long hours of Q-ing, we arrived at their door step 45mins before their official opening hour at 10am.

However, check out the Q that had already formed  -_-"

Q numbers are given nearing 10am but we couldn't make it to the very first batch of dim sum goers of the day (the restaurant can house lesser than 40 customers at one time?) so we had to wait another 45mins before it was our turn to go in!

Filming going on inside!!

Are you ready for some food porn?!!?!?!?

Their 烧卖 (Siew Mai) were pretty average. I was definitely expecting more but Victor's Kitchen's siew mai still win hands-down.

This ordinary-looking 萝卜糕 (Carrot cake) was surprisingly YUMMY! You can literally taste the radish shreds as you bite into it. So soooo fingerlicking good =)

Their famous 脆皮叉烧包 (Baked bun with BBQ pork) that my friends love! =)

枸杞子桂花糕 (Osmanthus Jelly) to end off our brunch! Like the subtle taste of the osmanthus =)

Verdict: Some of their dim sum are yummy but whether it's worth Q-ing 1.5hours - 3 hours for them is really subjective =/ Hence, i would say go early and be the first batch of customers to enjoy the food because based on my friends' past experiences, the first few batches of customers who arrived tend to wait least!

When you leave the place, you will instantly feel like a superstar because people will be crowding around the door like this:
haha.

Shopping in Mong Kok next!!!
Headed to Langham Place because there's HM!

Then it was to Argyle Centre!

Much like Bugis Street with air-con!!

Famished, we walked to 富记粥品 (香港旺角花園街104-106號) for lunch!
This place is recommended in OpenRice HongKong app and within walking distance from Mong Kok metro station.

Loving the handwritten menu pasted all over the small eatery!

Well, given its name, it's a place well known for their porridge (粥品) but it turned out, the 3 of us HATE  PORRIDGE -_- hahaha. i know right.

As a result, we ended up with roasted delights. hahaha.

叉烧烧肉双拼 (Roasted meat and char siew rice)

烧鹅饭 (Roasted goose with rice)

They were pretty average (it's a place for porridge, what do you expect right?) but being able to chomp down roasted goose made me a happy girl already. hehehe. I shall try their porridge dishes the next time!!

With full tummies, we walked over to 女人街 (Ladies Market) at 旺角通菜街 Tung Choi Street.

We popped by 发记甜品 (Lucky Dessert) for afternoon tea in between all the walking and shopping.

芒果棉花冰 (Mango shaved ice) was wayyyyy tooooo deliciousssss.

Left our shopping loots (actually more like CL's loots because i barely bought anything. haha) at the hotel then walked to Canton Road for some window shopping! Bustling with all the high-end boutiques, this place is perfect for those looking at getting branded goods for themselves.

Oh, there is no SALES TAX in Hong Kong! ;)

Since we are poor fresh grads/working adults, we walked around the area hunting for dinner.
I know, my HK trip is not 买东西,吃东西。It is simply 吃东西,吃东西, 吃东西!! haha.

CL suggested going for CoCo Ichibanya Curry House (Silvercord Tower, Tsim Sha Tsui) since we wanted something non-chinese and she loved the food there when she first tried it at the Singapore outlet.

Long dinner Q = Angrybird time!

Mini salad

Iced Coffee

Curry rice with hamburger
You get to choose the spiciness of the curry so gungho me decided to go for Level 1 spiciness (one level up  its Normal choice) but it turned out to be pretty spicy already!! =/ However, i have to say the rich flavor of the curry sauce was super addictive!

Omelete curry rice with creamy chicken

Okie doke, that's all for Day Three in HK!

Until next time~
