I love #DIY #armcandies

Taking a break from blogging about my Macau/HK trip for this DIY entry =)

Arm-candies pictures are flooding on Instagram and i posted pics of my own collection a couple of weeks ago (Follow me @yvonnekt!!). Friends and customers have been asking me where to buy these bracelets but they are actually mini DIY projects that i learnt off the net! Hence, for convenience sake, this entry will be a collation of all the different online tutorials that i got my inspiration from!!

Black suede bracelet with engraved rice beads in a tube - Multi-colored friendship band - Gold chain with pink suede - Neon pink/yellow skull macrame bracelet

There are MANY craft shops that sell suede ropes/beads/chains in all sorts of colors! However, if there isn't any near your place, you can pop by:

PEOPLE'S PARK CENTRE, CHINATOWN
101 Upper Cross street S(058357)
With different craft shops scattered within this shopping mall, this is the BEST place to get materials for all DIY projects. I got all my materials from the various craft shops on an afternoon after work within an hour, how convenient is that?!

Black suede bracelet with engraved rice beads in a tube
Bought this in Phuket as a couple bracelets with theBF some years back but the original bracelet string was all dirty so i bought a new black suede rope (80cents per piece), changed the lobster clasp and ta-dah, NEW BRACELET =D

Multi-colored friendship band
You can make this or simply buy it (S$1 i think) from hippie accessories store Art Serve (top level Tampines Mall). To make something similar, check out HONESTLYWTF.com (Direct link to DIY entry) as she gives an extremely detailed step-by-step tutorial on her blog.

You can also make embellished ones following HonestlyWTF's tutorial here: http://honestlywtf.com/diy/diy-embellished-friendship-bracelets/

Gold chain with pink suede
This is a hot favorite among my friends but this is also the EASIEST to make. lol. Simply buy a rose-gold/gold-plated (depending on how yellow you want your chain to look), lobster clasp and pink suede string from any craft shop at PPC. Pull the suede string through the gold chain and it's done. Yes, it's THAT simple. lol.

For a more sophiscated design like this...

You can view Ann's youtube tutorial to learn how to make them!! =)

Neon pink/yellow skull macrame bracelet
My personal favorite of the stash. It took me a LONGGG time to find the skull charm but i finally tracked it down at a crafts/beads shop at PPC, level 2, the store nearest to the spiral staircase! Can't remember the name of the shop but there is only one shop around that corner that focuses on beading/sewing materials. They sell it in bundles so i got around 25 skull charms all at once! hehehe.

How to make create the macrame weaving pattern? I got my inspiration from www.ispydiy.com!
Since neon colors are totally rad, i bought the neon pink and yellow chinese knot cord to make my bracelet instead.

Then, about a week later, i had some free time so i made another chain bracelet, this time round with rhinestones!! =D

Yet another ispydiy.com's tutorial for this design (Jenni's sooo talented!)

While she used suede rope for her design, i tweaked it a little by using neon yellow chinese knot cord to continue my neon fever =P

Alright, hope this collation entry will inspire you to make your own arm-candies! =) Happy DIY!!!
