Macau Day Two / Hong Kong Day One

If there is only ONE thing you can eat in Macau, what would it be?

PORTUGUESE EGG TART of course!!

Starting our day bright and early with a visit to a famous egg tart cafe near our hotel!

Margaret's Cafe e Nata =)
Always keep a look out for this sign while navigating to this place because it's actually pretty well-hidden.

Being well-hidden is not equivalent to being less crowded because the place's PACKED with people when we arrived!

Ordered and paid at the cashier counter before collecting your items from the lady near the pastries counter.
Warning: Don't expect good service. Most of the time, they will just shove the paper plates into your hands and expect you to move away immediately so other customers can collect their items. Hot beverages are served later so don't stand around or you will end up getting glared at by the staff like i did. hahaha.

Portuguese egg tarts and portuguese sausage roll!! =D

One of the best egg tarts everrrrrrr. Crispy and hot crust/tart with soft buttery and rich custard!
*2 thumbs up*

Sliced Portuguese sausage in bread! Not the best sausage roll i've eaten but still a pleasant surprise.

Made our way to Ruins of St Paul's
My second time at this place since i've been here 2 years ago with jiejie, her hubby and theBF so it was really just "walk walk see see" this time round.

An impromptu decision to dine at this random Portuguese restaurant for lunch before we left Macau for Hong Kong as it's going to be such a pity if we were to leave the place without trying some authentic Portuguese cuisine which it is famous for.

葡萄牙青菜汤 (Portuguese Vegetable soup)

秘制椰汁焗葡国鸡 (Portuguese chicken in coconut sauce)
Tasted just like curry with the addition of coconut milk and potatoes! haha. However, it also comes with sliced egg and portuguese sausage slices to make it their own ;)

牌坊酱烧猪肋骨 (Spare ribs with BBQ sauce)
Every table ordered this apart from the the portuguese chicken dish! Love the juiciness of the meat and the sweetness of the BBQ sauce. Yummers!

With satisfied tummies, we headed back to Hong Kong via TurboJet ferry in the late afternoon! =)
To be honest, we were kinda bored in Macau because none of us gamble so it only took us 5mins to explore each of the different casinos we passed by. bah. And the shuttle bus frequencies were so erratic so it was soooooo frustrating shuttling between the different casinos =((

Nevertheless, if you wana embrace the casino ambience and test your luck at the slot machines and gambling counters, i guess Macau is definitely the place to go, without having to spend S$100 =P

Arrival at our hotel - Butterfly on Prat, Tsim Tsa Tsui Hong Kong!!!
This hotel is highly raved online so we were really looking forward to a good stay, especially since Metropole Macau was not that fantastic. hehe.

MICROWAVE IN OUR ROOM!!! Awesomness! And the mini fridge comes with a big freezing compartment too!

The girls with our life savior for the next 6 days - Mr iPad! haha.
We bought a 50 MB 3G MicroSim card at the Hong Kong airport before our ferry ride to Macau at $198HK which lasted us till the end of the trip with much to spare. Great investment for us since we had to constantly use the GPS system to navigate our way to the different restaurants and eateries in HK!

First destination for the evening - The One shopping mall at Tsim Tsa Tsui

Had western-japanese fusion cuisine for dinner at a random restaurant at The One. So it was pork cutlet curry ramen for YL and crab ramen for both CL and me. Nothing impressive so nothing to comment i guess.

Next stop? DESSERTS!!!
Much thanks to Stephanie (theimpulsiveact.blogspot.com) for her recommendation on OPENRICE HONGKONG app!! We managed to pick our dessert cafe via the options provided within the app and find our way using the in-app GPS! AWESOME MUCH.

五代同堂 (Wu Dai Tong Tang)
A stone's throw away from our hotel and it proved to be very popular among locals as we always see a long Q right outside the store during post-dinner hours!

This is what YL normally do when we are overseas: Take out the itinenary guide she prepared, tell us what this restaurant/cafe/eatery is famous for using the list she prepared, then ask if we are ok with this and this and that and that. HAHAHAHA.
I just slack and eat and oh, take pics ;)

Not on YL's list but WHO CAN RESIST SHAVED ICE?! Especially when it's of YAKULT flavor? Too delicious =)

五代同堂精选 (Wu dai tong tang Special)
From left to right: Creme Bulee, Apple Crumble, Chocolate lava cake, Green Tea ice cream
Verdict fom left to right: TOO sweet, not bad, delicious, normal
HAHA. ok, a mixture of good and bad but perfect for sharing among girlfriends.

That's the end of my second day in Macau/HK!! =)

More to come~

Until next time!
