Macau - Day 1

Woohoo, here to blog about my HK/Macau trip!! =)

Too bad Twin was not able to join us on this trip due to some personal matters and her presence was soooo dearly missed throughout the 8 days because she's always the person who takes charge of our common funds and all. oh wells, there's always next yr i guess!

Us at the airport =) 7am flight is just not the best timing!!

Headed straight to Macau after landing at HK International Airport via the TurboJet ferry! We didn't even have to go through immigration/collect our luggage because everything's simply transferred on board our ferry. AWESOME RIGHT?? =)

Looking for the free shuttle bus that goes to our hotel! Almost every hotel in Macau has its own shuttle bus service so you can really save on taxi fares shuttling to and fro the ferry terminal.

Metropole hotel, Macau.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel because it does not come with free wifi though promised on the website =( So disappointed!

Taking their feeder bus to our first destination! Prices range from S$0.40 to S$1 so it's really affordable!

First stop - 大利来记猪扒包 (Pork bun)
This cafe is very popular in Macau for its pork buns so we went all the way to their main branch!

Place's solely for takeaways but you can stand ard and finish your bun, just like the many locals/tourists at that place.

Really surprised to see the tender pork chop still attached to its bone!

Made our way to Rua do Cunha (Portuguese for Cunha Street), a narrow pedestrian street filled with cafes/souvenir shops. Yes, it's very touristy but it's also the place to buy local snacks for your friends and family back home ;)

Chilled coconut milk with sago =D

Serradura desserts are seen everywhere so we had to try it out! Without having a clue what it really is, we ordered the Serradura ice-cream from a nearby cafe (well, it is the perfect excuse to hide in an air-con place because it's so ridiculously hot outside!!)

Serradura ice-cream
Serradura is actually "saw-dust" in Portuguese but the saw-dust looking powder is actually biscuit crumbs! Just imagine crushed digestives biscuits over vanilla ice cream. haha.

Iced chrysanthemum tea.

Dropped by the pastry store that sells BIRD NEST EGG TART!!

Honestly, it's nothing special =/ couldn't really taste the bird's nest so i was a little disappointed.

City of Dreams next!
This place reminds me of our MBS/RWS with all the high-end boutiques lined beside one another. Well, no surprise we didn't manage to buy anything. haha.

Across the street....Venetian Hotel

Such exquisite interior design!!!!

Recommended by CL's friend, we popped by 皇冠小馆 (Crown Kodate) along Rua do Campo for dinner!

The 2 dishes they are famous for - 竹升虾子捞面 ( Dried shrimp noodles)

I was surprised to see nothing but crushed shrimp bits and 竹升noodles on the plate since it's close to S$10!! hahaha. A new experience indeed!

and 海蟹粥 (Crab porridge)

The price of the porridge (close to S$30 for a bowl as seen below) did deter us in the beginning but it turned out to be large enough for consumption by up to 4-5people so it was actually worth it if you come in a group!

The freshness of the water crabs did not disappoint so money well-spent!! =)

That's all for Day One! =) Until next time~
