Woke up bright and early to start day two of Stockholm! Just love walking in this big city because of the many sculptures and artistic buildings surrounding us =))
Upcoming studded bucketbag from Yventually!! =) It's McQueen-inspired so it actually comes with 2 gold skulls on both sides. WAY TOO COOL.
Walking tours are extremely useful if you are travelling around Europe for the very first time on your own. Not only will they bring you to different places of interests that are significant to the country/city, the tour guide will explain all about the interesting history behind each street name/building/sculpture along the way too! You can find them easily online but theBF strongly recommends Sandeman free Europe tours which we signed up for our upcoming Paris trip =)
Since Sandeman does not provide tour in Sweden, we settled for the Free Tour Stockholm company instead!
Here's our guide, Paulina!
From Sergels Torg, we walked across to Queen's street and was greeted by...
HQ of H & M
Yes, from this part of Stockholm, they take over the fashion world!!
PUB, Sweden's major departmental store...
Memorial plaque at the exact spot Sweden then-prime minister Olof Palme was assasinated!
Walking along the street where all high-end boutiques were found and apparently, during Xmas season, they laid red carpet on this street together with Xmas decorations! How cool is that! haha.
Then Paulina brought the group of us to "King's Garden" (Kungsträdgården) and much to our surprise, the place was planted with CHERRY BLOSSOMS!!! =)))) SOOOOO prettyyyy. TheBF and i got really excited because Sweden isn't the place you would have expected to see these gorgeous pink flowers, don't you think?
Ended the 2 hour walking tour and theBF brought me to a restaurant his friends and him discovered during their previous trip to Stockholm - Jensen's Bofhus!
An average meal in Stockholm is around S$20-S$40 so imagine finding a steakhouse that serves steak+potatoes at just S$10!! ;)
AWESOMEEEEEEE fried potato slices!! =D For the price we paid, i say it's a good deal!
Since we had some time before the next destination, H&M shopping time for me!! =P
Onwards to our next destination via Metro...
The super-useful Stockholm Card all tourists should own!
Switched to a short tram ride after that...
SKANSEN
Stockholm's open-air museum/zoo!
This place is hugeeeeee, with not only a small zoo showcasing the Scandinavian animals but also an aquarium and some small museums!
Me looking satisfied with my puny flower theBF plucked. hehehe.
oh naked mole rat, why are you so funny-looking? =/
Craved for ice-cream so we got the cheapest we could find in the gift shop although it was a whooping S$3 =/
Must.savor.every.bit.
Rushing into Vasa Museum that was nearby!
Almost 90% of the Vasa warship on display!!!
Starting our evening onboard Stockholm sightseeing cruise..
The seaview of this city is simply breathtaking =)
As we made our way back to central Stockholm for dinner, we spotted this SUPER FURRY SUPER CUTE dog on the metro!!!! WHY SO CUTEEEEEEEE. Dogs are allowed in most places in Stockholm, even H&M (yes, i've seen huge dogs shopping with their owners =/) so i did a lot of dog-spotting in the city! hehehe.
After dinner, it's time for a drink at Ice Bar (Nordic Sea Hotel)!!
A single visit entitles one to a free alcoholic drink and 40mins in this freezing cold bar. With Absolut Vodka from Sweden, how can we not order our concoction with this alcohol eh?
yup, COLD was all i felt.
I think i gave up after the 30th min in the bar so we left the place, headed back to Gamla Stan while admiring the night sky in Stockholm =)
That pretty much sums up my 2nd day in Sweden! More to come~~~
Until next time!
