Hanging out with Jun is always an adventure because she has 1001 dinner ideas and is always game enough to try a new restaurant/cafe with me =)
To celebrate her birthday, we went to this restaurant at Loyang Crescent upon Jun's friend's recommendation. When she first suggested this place (at Toll Loyang Offshore Supply Base to be exact), i was like "huh? so ulu ah?" and guess what's the name of the small restaurant?
Ulu Ulu Cafe Lounge -_- hahahahahaa.
Hidden on the 9th floor of the multi-storey carpark, this place was so quiet that weekday evening but it does have a good ambience with both cushion seats and table seats available for customers to choose from.
While we were busy snapping pictures of the place, the waiter couldn't help but went "you guys are not from around the area right?" lol. yeap, it was that obvious. haha.
Iced cafe latte to start my evening though it was nothing to rave about though.
The dim lightings in the restaurant affected the quality of my pictures so do bear with the slightly compromised picture quality today ok? =)
Slow Roast Chicken in White Wine Sauce
A chef's recommendation, this chicken broth dish came with a bowl of white rice and it was THE BOMB. The herbs-infused chicken broth had a tinge of white wine aftertaste to it, which i thought was a really unique western-eastern fusion. Also, it not only had a generous portion of chicken meat, the bowl of broth came with chunky carrots and potatoes too!
Bluespoon Shepherd's Pie
Jun's chicken shepherd's pie was relatively smaller in size as compared to mine but it came with baked beans as a side dish to add flavor to the meal. To ensure that the shepherd's pie was not too dry, the chef also added a small bowl of sauce by the side which i felt was really thoughtful of the restaurant =)
Ending off with waffle with vanilla ice cream. They had a really limited number of desserts available (i think there were only 2? hahaha) so we just picked a safer choice. It was not as fantastic as our main course unfortunately.
Food here at Ulu Ulu Cafe is affordable and i remembered they had a set lunch special that comes with soup and drinks so if you work around in the East and don't mind driving there for a simple but satisfying lunch, do give this ulu cafe (pun intended. keke) a consider!
Alright, i have to go back to photo-editting. Until next time guys!!
