Food for the soul

Since i came back from my work trip, i have been bugging I to bring me to some of her favorite eateries serving authentic Indian cuisine because i haven't eaten any that could beat my favorite North Indian restaurant that i went when i'm overseas. Together with another Indian food-lover SL, we followed I to Komala Vilas vegetarian restaurant for some good and value-for-money South Indian cuisine!

Situated at Little India (i mean, hello? where can you find good Indian food in Singapore right? haha), this eatery is located among the stretch of stalls after you exit from Exit E of the mrt station.

A look at the big menu hanging inside the restaurant =)

SL ordered the Rice Set that came with many different vegetable gravies and curries. What surprised me was dessert (Kheer/Payasam) was even provided as seen in one of those small white containers! A  well thought-out meal set =)

Poori set, aka the Boobs. hahaha. I have seen people eating these golden brown flour puffs but never gotten a chance to taste them so i took a small bite from I after her set came and i actually quite enjoy it. In case you are wondering, these round balls are hollow on the inside! haha.

Eating with her hands, eating like-a-boss!

My Masala Dosai =) It was a safe choice since i can't really understand what the other dosai means. HAHA. Love love love the mashed potato fillings inside.

My lunch consisting of the dosai and an iced milk tea only costed S$4.80 and the portion given was huge so my lunch was satisfying and affordable ;)

We took a bus down to 78 Horne Road where Windowsill Pies cafe for some pie-tasting!

SO MANY CHOICES! Unfortunately, this picture was taken on our way out of the place. When we first arrived in the afternoon, they were actually left with only 3 pie choices so we did not have many to pick from. Dang!

We picked something sweet and something sour as our post-lunch dessert =)

Pecan pie
The sweet filling was addictive and the pecans added that much-needed crunch to the overall texture of the pie. This is a pie good for sharing so the sweetness will not be too overwhelming towards to the end.

Strawberry Lemon pie
According to the staff at Windowsill, this is one of their bestsellers of all time. The lemon curd is tangy with the right level of sourness and the strawberry filling at the bottom was a sweet surprise.

I like the secluded location of this cafe (near Jalan Besar stadium) and the varieties of yummy pies available. The average price of the pies is perhaps the only minus point i had with this cozy cafe since their pies are around S$7-8 each although they are quite puny.

And since theBF commented my blog entry always end so abruptly (i mean i know that but i seriously don't know how to end my entries. Like with a quote? it's not me ya? haha) so i am going to end today's entry with my favorite youtube video of this week. It's SO funny and can someone please introduce me to this couple because i love spontaneous people like them! haha.

Enjoy and until next time~
