First we eat, then we do everything else.

Rolling with Maki-san

Ever eaten a sushi roll and thought "if only they didn't add XXX" or "if only they added YYY"? I was thrilled to discover Maki-san at The Cathay (basement) one fine Saturday evening because they actually allow you to CUSTOMIZE your own sushi roll!!! =)

Dining area is small but i think this restaurant's good for takeout during peak hour too! ;)

Their sushi rolls come in 2 sizes - Little San ($6.90) or Mega San ($9.90)
Both Little San and Mega San are actually of the same length so i suppose the only difference would be the number of ingredients added to each sushi roll!
Oh, they have a salad menu for customization too!

TheBF waiting for our sushi to be made on the spot!! =D

Our dinner served.
Maki-san sure paid alot of attention to their packaging (like all Japanese would) because the sushi rolls were served in these gorgeous boxes with the most adorable prints. I squealed with excitement the moment i saw the boxes! =)

My sushi roll that evening consisted of: tuna mayo, tamagoyaki (Jap omelette), fish roe, bonito flakes with sesame sauce. A good mixture of everything i love in my sushi. HURRAYS.

TheBF's sushi: shredded chicken, turkey bacon bits, steamed prawn, tuna mayo with wasabi mayo.
The weirdest combination i have ever seen but apparently he loved it. haha. I guess that's the best thing about being able to customize your own sushi roll - you pick everything you love without having anyone judge you! ;)

Ordered their tempura calamari for sharing and it was really tasty!! The calamari rings were big, crispy and fresh *thumbs up*

Sam's Birthday Dinner

Celebrated Sam's birthday at 1 Market, by Chef Wan. It is a Halal-certified buffet place at the new wing of Plaza Singapura =)

Crowded on a weekday evening, they had a wide variety of food choices from Chinese to Thai to Malay to Japanese.

Their grilled salmon was the bomb!! Very yummy!

The satay counters, where you rarely find enough satays for everyone because they were so popular among diners -_-"

Monochrome day for me =) This pic reminds me to ET..you know, E.T...phone...home....LOL. ok, sorry, being lame here.

Desserts counters serving ice-kachang, kuehs and tarts!

Made a birthday "cake" for Sam with their waffle, ice cream and stirrer as the "candle" Look how happy my friend was? lol.

Overall, their food was not fantastic but their huge variety of food made up for it. I think it's a great place for small company functions too, as seen from the many groups of diners that evening since the place was spacious and had tons of seating areas to accommodate many people at the same time =)

Ending this post with a picture of the ladies that night, with our Yventually bags!! My friends are the most loyal bunch of Yventually customers and honestly, i don't think i will ever make it without them =*)

Until next time~
