Happy 3 friends at 49 Seats

It's Monday again (what? so fast?) and since i had some time on hand, here's another food post on my recent food hunt with Elaine and Ace!

For dinner, we settled for 49 Seats, at 49 Kreta Ayer Road.
Believe it or not, this is actually my 3rd attempt trying to dine at this restaurant. I first visited 49 Seats a few months ago on a Sat afternoon only to be told they were closed that day for a private function and the 2nd time i was there, they were already closed for their mid-afternoon break =( Well, they say third time's the charm huh. haha.

We settled for their outdoor seats because they were fully booked on the inside. This restaurant has indeed become quite a popular spot among young adults like us as we actually met on a weekday evening so remember to give them a ring if you are planning to dine there so as to secure yourselves seats!

My French Onion soup since i topped up $4.90 for a complete meal that comes with soup and drink. Let's just say i have tasted better soup elsewhere. haha. I think Ace's Cream of Mushroom soup tasted much better!

And say hello to my Tom Yum Seafood Pasta!
This was easily on my must-order list that night as it is their specialty and supposedly the dish that they served over 4900 plates since they opened for business. I mean, it must be good or at least somewhat tasty right? =)
Served in cream-based tom yum sauce, i like the richness of the sauce. It wasn't one-dimensional and the dish was delightfully tangy and spicy on the overall. Thumbs up for the generous portions of prawns, mussels and clams too. A highly recommended pasta if you feel like eating something that packs a punch!

Elaine's Pan Fried Fish with Al Scampi sauce
We were all surprised to find the Al Scampi sauce served separately (as seen in the pic) when the food came. Cream-based and made with white wine, this sauce won praises from us all when we tried it! Since it came in a separate bowl, you can easily control how much sauce you would like to eat with your pan-fried fish - a rather thoughtful move actually. The only disappointment would be the fact that they ran out of the mashed potatoes side dish and had to make up for it with plain french fries.

Ace's Genesis Fish
This is quite an innovative dish as it's fish fillet with ham and cheese stuffed inside. Yes, imagine Cordon Bleu, Fish-edition. haha. According to Ace, it was unique and tasty as well! Unfortunately, the poor lighting outside the restaurant didn't allow me to take a better picture of the food =(

Group pic time!! Why oh why is my model so pretty T.T

Oh oh oh, we didn't get anyone to take these 2 pics for us. Instead, we tried this new phone app i downloaded - Groopic!
I saw this app from CNN that morning and immediately downloaded it for that night's use. Not the perfect app but still aweeeeeesome, especially when you want to do funny group poses like we did without having to embarrass yourself in front of the restaurant crew. hehe.

Until next time~
