Day seven of our trip started with a very touristy activity - visiting a Korean palace! Instead of Gyeongbukgong Palace, YL brought us to Changdeokgung Palace at Anguk, Korea's 2nd royal villa built in 1405 as she was telling us how the former's architecture is a little boring as compared to Changdeokgung.
Making our way to Anguk subway station with a Mister Donut double choco donut! =)
Arrival at the huge maze-like palace!
Check out Twin as "ge ge" and CL as her "ya huan" WAHAHA.
Lunch was at this nearby restaurant at Insa-dong =)
This is YL's mother's favorite restaurant when she visited Seoul few months ago!
Why? Because of this particular dish:
GALBI-JIM (Korean braised beef short ribs)
On top of that, we also ordered 2 bowls of NAENGMYEON (Korean cold noodles) - Cold soup noodles & Spicy cold noodles.
Honestly, out of so many types of Korean food i've tried over the span of 11 days, this has got to be my least favorite :/ Drinking soup filled with ice is so not my cup of tea. Guess that's the same reason why cold soba is not my favorite Jap food as well.
The rest of our afternoon was spent at Sinsa-dong, a more upscale street in Seoul where a collection of quaint stores, cafes, fashion shops can be found! Check out the pretty Ginkgo trees lining the street!!
It amazes me how everyone there was so well-dressed! Everyone's donned in trendy fashion gear, with the occasional fast cars whizzing by. Love the sight! =)
Decided to find a cafe to chill since we still had time before dinner so we settled for this 2nd-storey coffee house!
Behold, yummylicious cheese waffles ahead! haha.
While everyone was enjoying their drinks, i was trying to down that cup of extremely bitter macchiato espresso in one gulp (to end my "misery") -__-" So much for wanting to try a new drink. Bah.
7 days in Korea and it's finally time for...BIBIMBAP!!
We went to Gogung restaurant (http://gogung.co.kr), Myeongdong, that is awarded Best Korean Restaurant by Seoul Metropolitan Government =)
HOT STONE BIBIMBAP
SEAFOOD PANCAKE
PAN-FRIED POTATO NOODLES (oh this is goooood)
TRADITIONAL JEONJU-STYLE BIBIMBAP
What an extremely delicious meal!! Pricing-wise is slightly on the high side though. A set meal is around 40,000Won (~S$45) but since it consisted of 2 different Bibimbap bowls and 1 side dish each, we only ordered 2 set meals in the end which was more than sufficient! ;)
That is all~ Until next time!
