Restaurant Week 2012

It's Restaurant Week this week and my friends and I decided to join in the fun by attending a dinner session at one of the participating restaurants =)

It was an unanimous decision to dine at Bistro du Vin, Zion Road. At S$35++ per person, the 4 of us experienced our first French dining experience in Singapore together!

Distinctive exterior in a lovely shade of Burgundy =)

Cozy restaurant setting which reminded me of the Parisian restaurant i went to in Paris!!

At the opposite end of the table - YL and Twin

We were served a basket of warm bread (with butter) right after we were seated. What a great way to start dinner, especially since we took the 8.30pm slot which means we entered the restaurant with growling stomachs. haha.

Pan fried foie gras with pickled eggplant and onion
We were shocked by the generous portion of foie gras on our plate when the dish was first served to us! The rich flavor of the foie gras made this starter tasty but we all agreed it is a little too much for a starter dish as we were a little sick of the taste towards the end. However, kudos to Bistro du vin for being so generous!!

Pan-fried yellow tail Kingfisher with lemon, capers, crouton buttersauce with salad
YL and CL chose this out of the 2 main course choices and they were pretty delighted with its taste =)

Braised beef cheek in red wine
I know this is weird but can i just say i love the braised carrots more than anything else on my plate? hahaha. It was soft and sweet and just splendid =) The mashed potatoes and mushrooms were perfect additions to the beef cheek as well!

Hot English tea

Chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream
Everyone, except me, picked this for dessert and they were pleased with the richness of the chocolate. You just can't go wrong with girls and chocolates, can you? ;)

Fine apple tart
So satisfied with my choice of dessert!! The tart crust was crispy and just the way i like it! Made my friends try it as well and everyone loved the way the chef prepared this dish. VERY YUMMY!!! =)

Posing right after our meal with happy bellies! hehehe.

On me:
White shirt - Overseas
Faux leather skirt - H&M
Clutch - Lauren clutch from Yventually
Accessories - Chanel necklace / Studded ring from Bangkok

Oh oh, before i forget, i have to give credit to the attentive staff of Bistro Du Vin throughout my meal! They top up our water every so often, made an effort to memorise who picked what dish for each course, reminded us there is a bag hook under the table and the list goes on. I think good service is very important and I was impressed yesterday night =)

Alright, that's all for now! Until next time~
