I like Free n Easy travelling because i have full control of my time abroad, i don't have to wake up at unearthly hours and i'm glad my girlfriends have the same mindset as i do for this Hong Kong trip.
With that being said, we woke up at 10am on our fifth day in the country. SO SHIOK! hahahaha.
Took the MTR train to Causeway Bay in search of WANTON MEE ;) YL has planned a visit to 麥奀雲吞麵世家 (Mak's Noodles) in her itinerary but we couldn't find this franchise outlet at the address we found online. Hence, we decided to ask for directions since we spotted 2 super cute patrol policemen along the way. No, we really needed help, not because we were looking for the opportunity to talk to the uniform guys. AHHAHAHAH =P
The funniest thing was when we asked if they have any idea where Mak's Noodles outlet can be found and one of the police went "you want wanton mee and this outlet is said to be NICE online?!?!" in disbelief. Well, he repeated himself TWICE in fact. lol. So we asked if they had any recommendations instead and they pointed us in the direction of...
利苑粥面专家 (Li Yuen Congee House), found right behind SOGO's back entrance (铜锣湾骆克道539号)
p.s. Mak's Noodles outlet at Causeway Bay seem to have moved so maybe you should check out other locations instead to avoid disappointment ;) There's one at Jordon, right beside Australia Dairy Company!
云吞汤 (Wanton Soup)
Loved the fact that they don't scrimp on their prawns!! =)
云吞面 (Wanton noodles)
水饺汤 (Boiled shrimp dumplings soup)
These dumplings come with crunchy black fungi bits that adds on to the texture of this dish so i actually prefer this to wanton! Very yummy!
Went roaming around Sogo and Times Square (where i saw that Lanvin cap-front nude heels on sale at a ridiculous price of S$600 but i sooooo want to own it badly -_- enuff said.)
Afternoon snacks from this stall along the roadside =)
鸳鸯鸡蛋仔 (Gai dan zai in Chocolate/Original flavor)
TOO GOOD TO MISS =)
Then we decided to go for a more adventurous choice - Pork Intestines
You'll like this if you like kway chap! However, if you don't, skip the next pic or it'll gross you out. haha.
More afternoon snacks from Paul Lafayet at Windsor House. Yes, we are forever hungry and true gluttons. Don't judge. HAHA =P
According to YL, they are famous for their macarons and chocolate mousse cake so ordered those we did ;)
The macarons were average but the chocolate mousse cake packed a punch!!
Made our way to 庙街 (Temple street) but was disappointed with the limited number of 大牌挡 available in that area. Did we go to the wrong street or area??? Really beats me =/
In the end, we decided to try The Spaghetti House, after seeing its multiple outlets all over Hong Kong.
Lasagna for YL which she enjoyed
And Squid Ink Spaghetti with Scallop and Crayfish.
Dish's alright but the crayfish was not fresh at all. Such disappointment =(
Late night desserts near our hotel - 沛公甜品 (Dessert Playground) because they had so many magazine/newspaper articles pasted on their entrance door praising their layered pancakes. hehehe.
榴莲千层班戟 (Durian Layered Cake)
Such sinful supper eh? hahaha.
芒果粉肠 (Mango wrapped in Sticky Rice Roll)
The rice roll is more chewy than sticky so it's like munching on mango with jelly! =)
And that's how we ended our day, with super bloated tummies once again. hahaha.
Until next time~
