I believe in unicorns

Hi guys, i am back at this small little blog of mine, updating another food entry!! =D Was a little caught up with Yventually launches and photoshoot which explains why there has been a lack of updates here. Boohoohoo.

Anyway, today's entry is on my dear friend, Ace's birthday at House, 8D Dempsey Road some weeks ago =) Apparently she goes to the same restaurant every single birthday so Elaine and I met the birthday girl there for a night of feasting.

Looking through the newspaper-looking menu and deciding what's for dinner...

Miss Lala (yea, that's Elaine's nickname =P) who is celebrating her birthday today as i post this.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LALA if you are reading this~~~

Present-giving "ceremony" while waiting for our food. hehehe.

And like all my other friends, Ace receives her gift wrapped in brown paper (aka same paper i used for wrapping parcels. MUAHAHA) I tried my very best to decorate the paper envelope just so it doesn't look too....."yventually". lol.

Miss Unicorn with her unicorn! Youtube is such an amazing avenue to learn how to draw. hahaha.
No, i will not share my nickname here because it's too lame and embarrassing.

Seafood Bisque
As the crab bisque that Ace highly recommended and loved was taken out of the menu, we opted for the seafood bisque but was a little disappointed with the diluted soup base and apparent lack of flavor.

Celeriac Soup
This soup....can i just say don't ever order it even though it's a more expensive dish on the soup menu which gives people the false impression that it might taste better? Yup, that's all for the description of this soup. haha.

Truffle Fries
Best snack to share among the 3 hungry diners who were upset and unimpressed with the soups. haha.

Roast Chicken with Mash and Fondant Carrots
You really can't go wrong with a safe dish like this and it did turn out alright. I enjoyed the gravy made for this chicken dish and the chicken was considerably tender. Wished the carrots were a little softer though!

The Elegant Black Pepper Prawn Linguine
The redemption dish for the night. haha. A chef's specialty on the menu, Ace was raving about this pasta to us (repeatedly) before we ordered our food based on her past experience at House and glad it tasted as good as it was expected to this time round too. Surprisingly, it was the tangy black pepper pasta sauce that made this dish so irresistible!

Roasted Barramundi
Another chef's special on the menu, this was Elaine's choice for the evening. It came with a sweet date sauce and we all thought the maroon-red ingredient seen on top of the tumeric-roasted fish was beetroot or some dyed vegetable but it turned out to be chirozo! Mixing fish with pork sausage is definitely a first for me!

After dinner, we went to B&J's nearby for after-dinner dessert!!
Here's the birthday girl lighting her own candle because i am such a noob and i can't light a lighter for nuts =/ haha

Happy Birthday Unicorn!!!

Possibly my first close friend in the blogshop industry, thank you for all your help and advice =) I hope you had an enjoyable birthday evening with us!!!

Until next time~
