Let's head to J's

Been contemplating if i should blog this food entry as pictures were all taken with my iphone, thus the poor resolution of photos. However, the meal was truly enjoyable and the food was surprisingly yummy so just bear with the compromised quality of the pictures ok? ;)

Met up with Sam and Nisha so it means...time to try a new Halal-certified eatery in Singapore! Sam suggested J's Restaurant, 7 Purvis Street so off we went!

A Latin-American/Mexican-themed restaurant situated near Saveur restaurant, this small and cozy restaurant was actually fully-booked that evening when we arrived so do remember to make reservations if you are planning to dine there too. They had the "Chope" application incorporated on their website (www.dineatjs.com) so it's pretty much a fuss-free process making reservations!

Prices for most food items are on the higher side, ranging from $20-35...

Quesadillas for SH
Well-presented dish that is one of the cheaper alternatives in the menu. SH thoroughly enjoyed her dinner that consisted of warm tortillas filled with chicken breast (you can opt for beef as well), cheese, jalapenos, onions and tomatoes!

Paella for Sam
When the dish was served, it actually looked pretty small in size so we were afraid it might not fill the tummy of a big guy like Sam but it turned out to be just about right for him. I took a bite from his plate and gave a thumbs up for this saffron rice dish.

Both Nisha and i ordered their specialty dish - Adobo Chicken
Served with warm tortillas, the chicken was still wrapped in its plastic wrapper when it was brought to our table.

We were hit by waves and waves of tempting aroma as we opened the plastic wrapping, revealing a big chicken thigh drenched with a robust tomato-based gravy. The chicken meat was tender and the tortillas provided the much-needed carbs for this dish as the gravy complemented them so well! The restaurant also provided a small bowl of guacamole sauce to bring an added flavor to the food so it does not become too one-dimensional.

Happy diners x4 and happy birthday girl x1 by the end of the night =)

I don't know of other halal certified restaurants serving Mexican food at the moment so this is probably the place i will come back to when i'm with my Muslim friends and craving for some good Latin American cuisine in Singapore ;)

Until next time~
