Penang Penang - Day One

I AM BACK FROM PENANG =D

First time there, and my virgin Bridesmaid experience too. All thanks to Jie who invited me and even flew me there at her own expenses for her wedding =)))) I think people are normally amazed how such a distant relative is so close to my heart but i spent most of my early childhood days with her family before my bro was born so they are pretty much like my 2nd family =)

Before i flew, i managed to squeeze in time for gellish manicure near my place! It was $30 inclusive of cuticle removal and i thought it's a really good deal! I added the silver shimmer at the tip so i had to pay another $8 but me like the pretty shimmer!!

At the airport.

Introducing the 2 kiddos of this trip, da ge's darling girls =)

My 2nd family

On board AirAsia!

The seats were relatively comfortable and the stewards/stewardess were friendly and helpful. But it appears the service level varies because the stewardess couldn't be bothered with the passengers on my return flight :/

Penang Airport is actually a really small airport so i didn't expect too much. haha.

Ta-dah, our hotel for 4 days!!

Coffee Bean next to the lobby!! Starbucks & Subway is actually right around the corner as well ;)

Jie booked 2 family suites to accommodate all of us and each family suite consists of...

one living room..

one Master bedroom, one guest room, one small pantry..

Random pic of me. lol.

Top: Ohvola
HWS: TheVelvetDolls
Crossbody bag: Yventually's Tiffany Clutch
Flats: Yventually's heartshape-cutout pumps in grey

common toilet...

AND THE GIGANTIC TUB IN THE MASTER BEDROOM =D

And guess what? WE HAVE SEAVIEW TOO!

Jie's morning wedding gown in the wardrobe =)

Went down to level 7 where the swimming pool was located and it was a surprise for the kids to see MORE than just a simple pool!

TABLE TENNIS TABLES!!!! *jumps ard*

Kiddy pool

Mini Gym

Check out the sandy grounds!!!!

And then we started playing table tennis with each other. Coincidentally, most of us played table tennis during our school days. Yes, the very clumsy me played doubles during my secondary school days :P Jie, her hubby and her dad played table tennis as a recreational sport and da ge, er ge belonged to the school team like me!

I think the adults were more excited about this game than the kiddos. haha.

As it was still drizzling in the evening, we decided to settle our dinner at a nearby coffee house.

BBQ chicken wings for everyone. Despite its chao ta outlook, it was really delicious *yum*

Penang-style Bak Kut Teh
Unlike the ones we find in Sin (clear peppery soup), the bak kut teh there is herbal-based with TONS of ingredients like meatball, pig's stomach etc. I like!

Walked a good 20 minutes to Plaza Gurney, the only shopping mall in that area.

They have the usual Topshop/MNG/Parkson departmental store but what caught our eyes was...

A&W (you can see everyone crowding at the counter while i snapped this pic. lol)

Though i was full, CANNOT leave that place without rootbeer float =P

Gurney Drive hawker centre was right next to the shopping mall so we braved the rain to check the place out. Jie told us it was suppose to be really crowded  (given that it was a Fri night) but the rain kinda deterred most people.

Way too full to have a proper meal there so i bought myself fried chicken skin and chicken backside as supper! Awfully sinful. Ops.

Ok, that sums up day ONE of my Penang trip! 3 more days to go, including a full post on Jie's very traditional chinese wedding. hehehe.

Until next time!!!
