The whole point of travelling to Penang was to attend Jie's wedding dinner so Day 3 of my Penang trip started with everyone buzzing with excitement in the early morning because it was THE DAY =)
I got my makeup done by the makeup artist, courtesy of Jie =) It wasn't really of satisfactory (way too overdone for a morning makeup) and my brows got shaved into this awkward shape =/ Sigh.
Oh, im quite amazed by my hair though. haha.
Da Ge thinks he is very funny. lol.
Heading to the lobby to pass the groom his flowers!
GATE CRASHING OFFICIALLY STARTS!!
Groom and Bestman singing love songs in English, Mandarin and Malay! =P
And 10 push-ups!!!
Unlike Singapore, where the groom reveals the vial and kiss his bride, they employed a matchmaker who will be present in the room with the couple and instructs them to do exactly as she says. Really an eye-opener for me because she had like 1001 things she wanted the couple to follow =/
Tea ceremony
The groom's entourage! haha
And yes, i forced them to take a pic with my Ninja on our way to the groom's place. LOL.
Lee's family owned the whole row of terrace houses so all their relatives were already eagerly waiting for the couple's arrival when we got there.
Check out the Best man and his fan!! haha. We were both given a fan (another tradition) and had to repeatedly fan the couple throughout the tea ceremony. lol.
Managed to take a short break after we departed from the groom's place in the afternoon before driving another hour across the Penang Bridge to Seberang Perai, Juru AutoCity where the restaurant was located.
Displaying their wedding photos that were specially taken in Taiwan!
The interior of the really traditional-looking Chinese restaurant...
Check out the banner. LOL.
Some snippets of the dinner...In case you wonder who are the skimpily clad ladies in the pictures below, they are actually "professional" singers hired by the family to entertain the guests. Karaoke and such performances are all in rage in Penang weddings but it really took me a while to get used to the entire atmosphere. Like i say before, a total eye-opener. haha.
Lee's family was exceptionally nice to ferry us to and fro Penang Island and Seberang Perai. In order to let us experience Penang's ferry service, they even took a longer route back to the hotel just so that we can catch the 11pm ferry!
The many cars on board the ferry that night...
Last pic of the day - Night view of Penang Island across the river =)
Until next time!!
