Counting Down #02 - Old Airport Road

I think i should stop counting down to theBF leaving Singapore because it is getting a tad too painful to wake up every morning thinking that another day has ended and im that much closer to bidding him goodbye =*(

So some weeks ago, we took the circle line to Old Airport Road Food Centre, continuing our food hunt for good local cuisine that he will miss when he's away. This is one of my dad's favorite eating place and with the circle line station located so closely to this hawker centre (Mountbatten or Dakota station!), it is really convenient and so much more accessible than before!

WHITLEY ROAD PRAWN MEE
Didn't manage to snap a picture of the stall itself but it's pretty prominent with its bright yellow signboard. Stall's facing the main road so you might even spot it while driving!

Ordered the $5 (smallest bowl) prawn mee with pork ribs =) Dad's recommendation and this is the stall we always order when he drives me there for lunch/dinner!

And i don't know what got into us that day but we were STILL hungry after gulping down the prawn mee so we ordered wanton mee from the nearby store because Nam Sing hokkien mee stall was closed for the day and we were seated right next to this wanton mee stall (aka lazy to move). HAHA.

Hawker centre food stall with electronic number generator. FANCY LEH. haha.

The char siew was a tad dry, wanton was pretty good and the noodles is REALLY AWESOME. I hate it when my meepok/thin noodles clump together but the noodles from this stall was blanched with such perfection, giving it an al dente texture =D

Guess what we bought for supper?

LAO BAN beancurd
Everyone (no kidding) had at least a bowl of Lao Ban soya beancurd on their table which got us tempted as well. Thankfully, there is no Q at the store and i managed to purchase the last few bowls available for the day =)

Smooth texture with a strong soyabean aroma and taste. No wonder it's so famous!

If you are not into queuing for a bowl of soya beancurd, i personally recommend 51 Soya Bean, located near Lao Ban at the food centre!
First tried their Durian flavored beancurd at our stayover at Wanderlust, i think its texture and taste is definitely comparable to Lao Ban's!

Okie dokie, tt's all for today!

Until next time!
