Sweet Escape

It all started with a simple tweet, me requesting for a Halloween party and before I know it, my friends and i organised a stayover at Wanderlust Hotel for a Halloween-themed party!!

Since Cheryl couldn't make it due to her diving trip, it was only me Suz Mich and ZX this time round =) We picked Wanderlust's TREEHOUSE-themed room because we thought it fitted our theme the most!

What greeted us when the door opened...

The crazily-steep stairs to the 2nd level :/

Gigantic bed with pretty leaves fabric hanging on the ceiling!

The room is pretty well-equipped. With Ipod dock, Espresso machine, 2 TVs (one on each level), mini fridge (that comes with complimentary juices and soft drinks) and even shower foam and shampoo from Kiehl's!

Then the decorating begins!

Im donning LB's Bernadette Blazer in Coral :D Surprised to unwrap my parcel to see the blazer in such a loud shade (more orange than coral?) but perrrfect for the Halloween party =)

80% of the props you see here belonged to Mich! I have really resourceful friends! haha.

Since we had to wait for ZX to arrive after work, we started cam-whoring!!

If my eyes in the following pics look bigger/brighter, it's simply because my dear friend lent me a pair of fake lashies! haha. The wonders of makeup :P

Found the perfect place to place my camera as we played with the self-timer - the stairs!

Then ZX came with dinnerrrrrr =) There is this tzi cha store right across the street so getting dinner was a breeze ;)

DURIAN flavored tau huay thanks to ZX's bf =))) So smooth and unique!

Check out where we hung our drinks. haha.

And it's time for ZX to get dolled up~

And...CAMWHORING OFFICIALLY STARTS.

Ok, I shall not flood this place with too many pictures of us crazy kids :/

Then it was time for CUPCAKESSSSSSS <3

Much thanks to Zx who got us cupcakes from both Twelve Cupcakes & Awfully Chocolate!

Mini cupcakes from Twelve Cupcakes! Me like Peanut Butter and Red Velvet ;)

And the (sinful) chocolate cupcakes from Awfully Chocolate. SOOOO rich and erm, fattening? haha.

MONOPOLY DEAL! Yes, took me this long to learn this game that's all in rage right now.

**Start of unhappy incident**

Then we received the call we dreaded. The front desk called us at around 10.30pm, telling us that only 2 registered guests can stay in the room beyond 11pm and stated it was written on the check-in form Mich signed when she checked earlier on. To be honest, we didn't think much of this "HOTEL POLICY" in the afternoon because i didn't experience the same problem at Studio M and i seriously don't understand the reason behind this "policy"

I went down to negotiate with the hotel front desk and asked if they are simply worried about the noise level and all. The only explanation they gave (stone-faced, no less) was "it's a hotel policy". No further explanation, no chance given, no smiling face. Hence, it's much like a "ask ur guests to leave right now, i don't care if it's 11pm and im spoiling your party" scream in your face.

I'm actually quite offended by their attitude because it shows how inflexible the hotel is. Are they worried with more than 2 people in the room we are going to use more water/electricity etc? I cannot think of a reason why this "policy" has to be in place, apart from the noise issue (which they did not mention).

And then came part II of the story when they said "you have to pay additional charges if you want your friends to stay" So in order for us to continue our party past 11pm, i will have to pay S$100 PER HEAD. (did i mention their supervisor whispered loudly "$100 PLUS PLUS to his assistant?) I think this amount is beyond ridiculous, especially when this room itself already cost us around $450/night. So it all boils down to money huh? Well, at least that's the impression i get from the stone-faced staff and their monotonous and somewhat arrogant reply.

Went back to the room, unsatisfied, to discuss the issue with the rest and Zx suggested we should just get another room since their cheapest color theme room cost around the same price (~$200). Instead of paying $200 to have the rest of us stay, we might as well get another room at the same price to cam-whore. I mean, if not we should all leave at 11pm, meh? -_-

**End of unhappy incident**

Made payment for the room and checked out our BLACK-themed room past these cool color-themed corridor.

The incident got us pretty frustrated (im broke. period.) but we are destined not to let these unhappy things spoil the stayover we were so excited about =) So...More pics!! haha

Breakfast the next morning was quite cool at the restaurant downstairs with its semi-buffet style! Initially we thought all they had were bread and cereals till we saw the menu nicely placed on the dining tables. haha.

Overall, i give credit to the hotel for their creative interior design of the rooms and the good quality in-room products they provided. It would be a perfect couple getaway location but if you are thinking of holding a party/gathering here, it's a big no-no i guess. Unless you are willing to pay $100/pax :P

Until next time~

  1. I think that some hotels are quite strict in this coz they want u to spend more there lor. Imagine if everyone squeezed into a room, then they will earn so much less!
