With theBF busy with his competitions over the weekend, i joined one of the remaining Japanese lab visitor for some sightseeing on both Sat and Sun. It's actually quite fun acting like a tourist myself and visiting tourist attractions in a whole different light =)
SATURDAY
On Sat evening, it was NIGHT SAFARI!!! I've never been there myself (yea, failed Singaporean. don't we all. haha) so with my boss's kind sponsorship, NX and i brought him to one of the must-go place for visitors!!
Such LONGGGGGGG queue at AMK interchange for bus 138 -__-"
My new Jap friend Kurakawa-san and NX, my lab colleague!
TO THE NIGHT SAFARI YO!
There are around 3 shows per night at the Night Safari but by the time we reached the place, the 8.30pm slot was full already. I think that was like 30mins prior to the show? Weekend crowd is really madness.
Check out the snakelong queue to the tram!
It is basically not possible to take good quality pictures during the tram ride since flash photography is prohibited but it was so much fun!! Some of the free-roaming animals are allowed to stay close to our tram so it's like a little safari adventure for us in the dark ;)
Rushed down to queue for the 9.30pm show 40mins beforehand but once again, the theatre is filled with spectators, locals and visitors alike.
Overall, a very enjoyable experience! I actually like Night Safari way more than the Zoo, though they both smell as bad. HAHA.
SUNDAY
We started Sun's sightseeing in the noon so we can all snooze a little more than usual. haha. Didn't know Ah Chew Desserts open late on weekends so we hopped over to Swirl Art for some yoghurt-icecream-lovin!
Kurakawa-san has never eaten/seen yoghurt icecream in Tokyo and the fact that he came from the Yakult Institute made him even more fascinated with this dessert. haha.
Concept's pretty similar to Soghurt but they have...PEANUT BUTTER FLAVOR!!! =D
"Lunch" was at Ah Chew Desserts, Liang Seah Street!
Sesame Paste...Steamed Egg Pudding and Mango with Pomelo!
Headed to Little India for the start of his "Cultural tour". haha. NX and i have no idea how to navigate around that place and we thought Little India looked terribly big and confusing on the map at the train station. You know what? Map's so not drawn to scale for sure. All the temples were closely located to the station. LOL.
The temple was closed for the afternoon so we couldn't enter so we went to explore Chinatown/Arab Street instead, sipping Wo Ai Tai Mei milk tea in between =D Oh, we made a Japanese hooked on bubble tea too! haha. Didn't take any pictures because i was constantly holding on to food. Ops. haha.
Ending my entry with a picture i took with Kurakawa-san today in the lab! Had an enjoyable drinking session at Vivo with him and NX to bid him farewell earlier this evening before he leaves for Tokyo tomorrow morning. It's been some time since i made a new (foreign) friend but it's been much fun, much fun =)
Until next time~
