I've got an embarassing confession: everytime there is a Malay wedding held in my neighbourhood, i would pester my mum to check if we know the newlyweds because i wana attend sooooo badly. I mean, who can resist the aroma of the nasi briyani and curry chicken right??! lol.
So now you know how UBER excited i was when Tuty passed me her wedding invitation last month. My VERY FIRST Malay wedding invite!!! i was so afraid i would under/over-dress for the occasion i ended up MMS-ing my outfit to Nisha to make sure i look appropriate for the event. Paranoid much? haha.
We managed to grab a quick bite over at the buffet counter before the newlyweds arrive! I was too busy snapping pictures to notice that we were the ONLY ones standing during the arrival of the couple. LOL. This is what happens when you are seated with a bunch of Chinese/Spanish (my ex-boss) who rarely attends Malay wedding! =P Nisha was so embarassed she kept whispering "no one stands at Malay weddings one loh! so pai seh!!" beside me. HAHAHA.
Straight after Tuty and her hubby were seated at their "throne", the DJ requested for Tuty's parents to come on stage so the couple could pay respects to the elderly. Oblivious to the surrounding due to the language barrier, my Spanish ex-boss went on stage IMMEDIATELY to pass the bride her wedding gift! I think everyone was in a state of shock to see a Teddybear-looking angmoh up on stage congratulating Tuty. LOL.
We were actually waiting patiently for our turns to go on stage but after waiting for what seems like forever (the DJ kept asking the couple's RELATIVES to go on stage), we started pestering the DJ and he went "ok, so relatives as well as FRIENDS WITH NO PATIENCE, pls go stage now" (in malay, of course) LOL.
I was really happy for my dear friend on that day because I know she had gone through a rollercoaster ride before this marriage and she really deserve a blessed happily-ever-after. =)
To my closest friend during my internship days, thank you for once walking me through the rough patch of my life and teaching me some of the most valuable lessons on relationship. May you lead a happy and fulfilling married life~
Until next time~
