Penang Buffet

Since i started living in school hostel 2 semesters ago, i've been frequenting the gym at Fusionopolis and that's when this Penang buffet restaurant - Penang Place caught my attention!

Finally managed to find my buddies to try out this place a day after we received our results (yes, im now a graduate!!!)

Penang Place, Fusionopolis

Restaurant was relatively quiet when we first got there at 6.30pm but it slowly filled up and by the time we left, it was pretty crowded already!

Extremely yummy Penang-style char kway teow. Tasted exactly like the one i had in Penang last year ;)

I know they don't look very appetising on my plate but the stingray and curry were pretty damn good ;)

We don't wait for latecomer(s). lol.

Penang Laksa and Hokkien Mee corner!

A really small portion of assam laksa but tasted authentic nevertheless! Love the shredded fish bits they added!

They had a small corner for chinese dim-sum. According to SH, their fried chicken wings were really tasty but after they were all taken by other customers, they refilled the tray with satay instead so none for me =( Booo.

Pleasantly surprised they provided a DIY Rojak counter, complemented with an array of fruits for you to choose from, staying true to the Fruit Rojak style i had back in Penang ;)

The PRO at work. hehehe.

Dessert counter comprised of the usual longan desserts and traditional Peranakan kuehs. You can also find mango pudding and gui-ling-gao from the fridge (in the background)

My favorite dessert corner? ICE-KACHANG machine!!! haha.

How do you guys eat your ice-kachang? For Nisha and me, it's always "ice-kachang, but no kachang (red beans) and lotsa corns!!" haha. So much for calling it ice-kachang. lol.

No ice-kachang is tastier than the one you made youself, don't you think?

The bill came up to be around S$29/pax which is slightly more pricey for a small buffet restaurant like this one but i like how the food reminded me of the great meals i had back in Penang and the quality and authenticity of the food choices made this trip worthwhile!

Oh, and you can read about my Penang travelogue if you are keen here:

Paris, France - Day Four

Living in Montmartre area means we were actually within walking distance away from Sacré-Cœur Basilica, so that's how we spent the morning of our very last day in Paris!

I groan everytime i see these...

The Catholic church, right on top of the hill

TheBF and i took some time arguing if this is a real man or simply a statue. What do you think? =/

Passing by the busy streets of Montmartre as we made our way to the nearest Metro station. So many artists gathered here to sell their art pieces it's unbelievable =)

Since it was last day in France, it's time to hit the departmental stores!!
First stop - Galeries LaFayette
Just looking at the exquisite architectural designs already made the trip there worthwhile ;)

There are many places that give you a good view of Paris, and Galeries Lafayette's rooftop is one of them.

Printemps!

I came to Paris with only one thing on my shopping list (im a poor poor student. boo) - a pair of Repetto so i was utterly disappointed when both LF and Printemps no longer stock my shoe size =( Oh what bad luck!

Since we still had a long day left, theBF and i decided to catch a movie in Paris!! =D Such a new experience because basically no seats were assigned beforehand so after you buy your tickets, it's a first-come-first-sit kinda thing!

The empty theatre because....we were too  kiasu early. HAHA.

My original plan was to bring theBF to a widely-raved French restaurant Chez Toinette in Montmartre but to my horror, they were closed for the day =( So upon Plug-Inn's staff recommendation, we walked over to Le Relais Gascon, a french place that is quite famous for their giant salads.

Our entrees were Escargots (with buttery herb sauce) and French Onion Soup (THE BOMB!!!)

I ordered Duck Confit and it came covered with yummy fried potato slices and boiled french beans! It was awesommmmmeeeeee. =)

TheBF's Chicken Scallop with Cream

And ending off the night with a wide smile from theBF. haha.

Can't believe i finished blogging about Paris! =( So miss Europe right now. oh wells. Maybe i'll be back in Europe in September, we'll see we'll see.

Until next time!!

Paris, France - Day Three

Back from my work trip with a slight fever and 2 huge bruises because humptydumpty (me) had a great fall =( Nevertheless, can't wait for the bags and shoes to arrive in Singapore!!

So onwards to Day 3 of Paris!

Travelled to Saint Michel for the Sandemans Free Walking Tour. Turnout that day was hugeeeee but thank gdness they separated us into smaller groups to make travelling around Paris easier/

Do not underestimate this normal looking bridge. It smelled sooooo bad when we were made to walk underneath it because it appears to be a famous pee-ing spot for Parisians, kids and adults alike. EEEEW.

The very animated tour guide - Adam

Love Bridge, filled with love locks =)

Parisians love their dogs, but don't love cleaning after them. haha.

Whole trip ended at a restaurant Sandemans has a collaboration with so we get to enjoy a Parisian meal, coupled with a free drink for just 11Euros!

TheBF's Duck Confit with white wine

My Roasted Chicken

We decided to walk all the way to Arc de Triomphe / Champs Elysees, passing by Eiffel Tower which, of course, gave me some opportunity to camwhore again. hehehe.

Cue song: ooooh, champs elysees~~

Giant Sephora store!!

LV Flagship store =)

Entering the garden that led to the main entrance of Abercrombie & Fitch. Hello, how can those half-naked men be SOOOOO HOT?! I was just ogling at pretty faces and ignoring all the clothes inside. AHHAHA.

Finally found an outlet of Pierre Herme. YUMMYLICIOUS MACARONS, HERE I COME ;)

After tasting one, i finally understood why people say Pierre Herme has the best macarons in the whole wide world. They were simply divineeeee.

And then it was on to Paul bakery for their famous strawberry tart!

We reached Arc de Triomphe in the evening and was shocked to see a ceremony going on, with marching bands and whatnot. Since we were there a day after the French elected their new president, many tourists thought we would get a glimpse of Francois Hollande but clarification with the police revealed that it's actually a daily ceremony held at this place of interest, nothing to do with the election. lol.

Made theBF navigate the way to Rue Cambon, the place where Chanel began =)

Too bad the shop was closed by the end we reached, that's the problem with Paris, boutiques close wayyyy too early. boo.

Hopped onto the metro and off we went to Notre Dame!

We wanted to see the night lights of the Eiffel Tower so badly but the day in Paris is really long so we had to  wait till the sky's dark enough before travelling to Trocadero metro station for a good view of the tower.

When we got there, the view is simply breath-taking =) Too bad the place's filled with too many tourists like us so it wasn't as romantic as i've envisioned it to be. haha.

Just before we decided to leave, something magical happened!!

A glittering Eiffel Tower!! Awwwww, how pretty! =*) Everyone was gasping with excitement when it started glittering all of the sudden!!

Ending the awesome day with the pastries we bought from Paul.

Strawberry Tart & Chocolate Eclair. YUMS.

Until next time!
