Behind-the-scene: Collection 77

Here i am, blogging at the corner of my laboratory because i've got an hour of incubation to go and i know i can no longer drag this next collection/launch any longer. haha.

Well, the truth is, the photoshoot for this collection took place eons ago. haha. I feel kinda guilty i took this long to launch this bag but i really had no choice because things happened in school and i was forced to take another module at the very last minute or the school won't allow me to grad this semester due to some poly-uni exemptions shit. bah. (how lame. school sucks)

Ok, back to the inspiration for this satchel!!
I saw a couple of hobo designs on the runway when Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Week was on last year and fell in love with this casual-chic bag type immediately! Since i predicted the end product will most probably only be ready for our Spring/Summer collection, i had my mind set on picking bright colors for this design ;)

G was our model this collection and as I was sourcing for a good and convenient location for our outdoor shoot (self-manufactured bag => outdoor/themed shoot!!), i walked past  my school hostel one evening and thought it would be perfect to have a shoot in school since i don't have to lug everything all by myself, especially since i couldn't find anyone to help me that day given that it was a weekday and everyone had to work/study.

Since it's just G and I, there aren't any behind-the-scenes shots =/ Nisha did pop by to help me after we started shooting for a bit but she was too busy carrying my stuff. hehehe.

The pretty stonewalls (which no one appreciates in the hostel. haha) and a small "park" which even consists of a water-fountain!

Poor G had to force her way through my Topshop glitter pumps! Felt so guilty coz i would walk to another shoot location in her flipflops immediately after each shot, forgetting she couldn't walk properly in mine!! Ok, im a gan-chiong spider i know =/

SO HAPPY WITH THE PICS =D  And here's a couple of the more funny ones! I wanted G to give the "i love my bag and laughed too hard" look but i failed to make her laugh so it was a major failure. haha.

Then we moved on to University Town! Thank goodness G drove!! hee.

G's eyes are sooooo big and pwettttyyyyyyyy =) If i were to attempt the same poses as her, i bet my bro's gonna comment that i look like people owe me money -_- haha. Well, there's a reason why i stopped modelling for my own shop because 我可是有自知之明的. HAHA.

Last few shots at the grass patch near Cinnamon College! =)

Can't believe i managed to pull off the shoot in school and i hope you guys like the results as much as i do!! =D I'm going to post up the Lookbook preview in a while so stay tuned! The 2-sided clutch (in duo colors) and the leopard-print pumps you see in the pics will be for sale too!! =)

Oh, in case you guys wonder what color i kept, it's CHEERY MUSTARD!! =D

I've been carrying the bag everywhere i go these days and good news is....THEY HOLD WELL!! =) I always have customers asking me "will this bag look out of shape if i stuff too many things inside?" and the answer for this bag is...NOPE!! In fact, in my opinion. the bag looks even nicer/structured when it's filled!

As for material, i tried a new faux leather material this time round. Instead of the rough "leathery" texture, my supplier encouraged me to use a smooth and thick "pvc-like" faux leather for this design so it'll look more classy. I cannot be more happy with the final product! Oh oh, the middle zip is a non-functional one yup! I just had to include it for a more edgy look. hehehe.

As the material I picked this time round is more durable and of better quality, the cost price for the item also raised significantly =( It did cross my mind to give this design up but this bag is REALLY a gem so im holding 2 mass meetups (one on weekday evening and one on weekend noon) this upcoming week to allow everyone to save on postage yup!! =)

------

Since we are on the topic of Yventually this blog entry, i will also like to mention that Yventually will be on hiatus for the entire month of MARCH

As much as i have more pretty bags to introduce to you guys, i think i should take time off Yventually for this upcoming month because my Hons thesis presentation and submission date all fall in March. With this current semester being my final semester in NUS, i think it is about time i focus entirely on studies for this very last leg of my studies. I'll try to post teaser pics every other week in the next few weeks till our next launch in April ok? I promise Yventually's here to stay for good and i will bring it to greater heights after i grad =) But for now, studies come first because i will not allow my past 4 years of hardwork go to waste!!! haha.

Okie dokie, preview gonna be up soon!!

Until next time~

My Valentine(s)

I was sulking about the fact that i will be alone this Valentine's day because theBF's 347365735814 miles away from me. We don't exactly celebrate Vday in the past because of a personal bad experience with the ex that left me cold about Feb14 but you know how suddenly a particular day becomes extremely important when that someone cannot be there for you?

Ok, im sidetracking -_-" but anyhows, Mich asked me out yesterday, making me think that we will be out looking for a Vday present for her other half only to have me screaming when Cheryl, Suz and ZX came shouting "HAPPY VDAY DAY" from behind the door at Cine E2Max gaming room. haha.

According to Cheryl, instead of one, i have 4 Alex(s) this Valentine's. lol.

Never mind that i look really unglamorous in the pictures and while battling the rabbids in Raving Rabbids , that i will be staying in the lab to continue my thesis on Feb14, that this year's Vday is going to be slightly different from the past, I am extremely grateful for the friends around me and im extremely blessed, to say the least =*)

You know how some people completely shut off from their social circle the moment they get attached because they "want to be with the love of my life and thus have no time for friends"? Well, you are going to regret it because when you are lonely and depressed, your friends are going to be the ones who will pull you through it all. #truestory

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!

Until next time~

Cupcakes, anyone?

Drowning in school assignments and the fact that i've written nothing about my FYP thesis is worrying. BAH.

Just a short post of my DIY nails! Thanks to Suz who recommended GMarket for those nail dotting tools and after multiple youtube video tutorials, I HAZ CUPCAKE NAILS TOO =D

Im thinking of bumblebee-themed nails or those Hello Kitty french tip i've seen online next??

Until next time!!

Ciao Italia

Anyone is a fan of the TV show, Cake Boss?

Because I AM!!! Watching Buddy and his family making cakes and traditional Italian pastries never fails to make me drool. I tried Googl-ing for local bakeries and cafes selling Italian pastries (Yes, it's more than JUST Tiramisu when it comes to Italian pastries) some time back but to no avail.
Then when Jun suggested BRUNETTI at Tanglin Mall for my birthday treat a few weeks ago and i found out that it might just be THAT true blue italian bakery i was looking for, I WAS ON CLOUD NINE =)

BRUNETTI, Tanglin Mall

What greeted me after we found a seat at the relatively empty cafe:

Rows and rows and rows of desserts =D

Are you ready for a close-up of the pastries Brunetti offer?

Macarons!!

My dining partner - Jun! She's like one of the most adventurous friends i've known since young and she ALWAYS finds really unique dining places for us to visit whenever we meet =)

An overview of our dinner. Yes, DINNER. Me and my ingenious idea of eating only pastries as dinner just so that we can order more variety. HEHEHE.

Pear & Cheese Crumble

(Mini) Lemon Meringue Tart
We bought the mini tarts instead of a full-size one but after popping one into my mouth, i kinda hope we had ordered the large one instead. TOO YUMMY. haha.

Vanilla Cannoli
I had really high expectations for the Cannoli but the crust was not as crispy as i would want it to be =( Maybe i should try the chocolate cannoli next time?

(Mini) Chocolate Opera cake
The chocolate was rich and the combination of chocolate and coffee syrup can never go wrong, don't you think? ;)

And..what is desserts without a good cup of cuppa?

Overall, im not blown away by their desserts but to be fair, i only tried 1/10 of the pastries on display so until  i've tried most of the items on the shelves, im definitely going back to Brunetti!

Until next time~
